About Welsh Mountain Zoo
The Welsh Mountain Zoo, National Zoo of Wales, is the oldest and most established Zoo in Wales. Housing over 140 species, to date the Zoo has welcomed over eight million visitors through its gates.
The Zoo appointed Outloud PR to manage external comms in 2015 and has been working with the firm ever since, raising awareness of the charity, its animals, characters, people and landscapes through effective storytelling.
Delivery
The Zoo is a continually evolving charitable organisation that enjoys an abundance of stories that are captured, presented and delivered as part of an ongoing PR campaign.
Outloud PR works closely with the Zoo Operations Director and Marketing Manager to identify relevant subjects that sit within the external media campaign; these in turn, will essentially support and enhance the Zoo’s wider five-year strategy.
Whilst the campaign focuses largely on the lives of the animals and their journey within the Zoo, ensuring all audiences are aware of the vital conservation work delivered by the Zoo, forms an integral part of the PR drive.
The diverse audience base includes local community members, tourists – regionally, nationally and internationally, animal and nature lovers, families, individual and groups of all shapes and sizes.
The PR campaign focuses on both on and off line media incorporating newspapers, radio, TV news and feature programmes as well as specialist trade press. Outloud PR also support the Zoo in identifying , drafting and submitting award proposals alongside web and general content for a range of marketing purposes.
Output
The PR campaign delivered by Outloud PR has ensured that the Zoo remains on the public radar consistently, effectively communicating the many exciting developments at the Zoo and capturing those very special moments.
Visitor figures continue to rise, the Zoo celebrating its strongest attraction numbers during Christmas in 12 years.
The Zoo continues to be presented with awards both regionally and nationally gaining ongoing recognition from various prestigious awarding bodies.
